I have always loved fixing things. Repair knowledge is not enough without experience. From woodworking to electrical installation, I have fostered all of the skills you need for household repairs and improvements.
I have numerous degrees and certifications as well as memberships in Professional organizations that all help me be the best I can be. I am very proud of my CAPS certification which allows me to help Seniors Age in Place gracefully.
I have been passionate about giving back to our community all of my life. From working with the Youth at church and taking them on Mission trips, to being an assistant scoutmaster in my kids troops to creating a service learning program at the school that I taught at, service has always been a part of my life.
With each job I do, or piece of furniture I make it allows me to give back to our community by donating my time to organizations that help our neighbors with repairs to their homes that allow them to stay in their homes and by building furniture for our neighbors through organizations like Habit for Humanity.
I retired after 25 years as a high school Social Studies teacher. I started McOwen Fix-It and Furniture as a new career to follow my passions of helping others and furniture building.
